Botanical Medicine (Mediciinal Herbs)

Botanical medicine is a plant based therapeutic system used in the prevention and treatment of disease. It includes medical herbalism, a healing art that relies on the synergistic and curative properties of plants to treat symptoms and alleviate disease in order to maintain good health, and pharmocognosy which is the study of natural products.

Naturopathic Assessment

A naturopathic assessment includes a detailed consultation lasting one (1) to two (2) hours, patient vital assessment, laboratory testing/review and in some cases, physical examination. The intake process helps to identify the current condition with associated health risk(s) and/or progression of disease, evaluating an individual’s healing potential and to better identify the true cause initiating illness or disease.

Clinical Nutrition

Naturopathic medicine hugely emphasizes the value of food as medicine through clinical nutrition. The approach involves the study of nutrients needed for the body to function optimally and how the consumption of certain foods affect the body, whether positively of adversely.

Naturopathic doctors assess nutrient absorption, utilization and deficiencies in each patient. Dr. Chambers offers her patients dietary education, nutrition advice as well as individualized nutritional plans. As part of the education process, Dr. Chambers will provide you with recipes and handouts about the medicinal properties of foods empowering you to take an active role in your dietary health and how you should incorporate them into your daily lifestyle.

Part of your treatment with Dr. Chambers will include a wide array of vitamins, minerals and other food based supplements when warranted. These natural food, mineral and herbal based supplements are manufactured in well researched neutraceutical companies producing high quality products for consumer safety, only made available to Naturopathic Doctors.
